Project Background

Latu, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and with support from UNFPA, is implementing a programme to advance sexual and reproductive health, promote gender equality, and improve health outcomes among populations at heightened risk of HIV, STIs, and other SRHR-related challenges. The project focuses on meeting the health needs of those most at risk of HIV infection and preventing new infections among key and vulnerable populations.

Programme Focus Areas

  • Strengthen the combination HIV and SRHR prevention services.
  • Use differentiated service delivery models, including condom and lubricant distribution.
  • Increase knowledge and risk perception through SBCC to drive demand for HIV prevention.
  • Address mental health issues (e.g., depression, anxiety) among at-risk groups.
  • Improve linkages and referrals to GBV services and one-stop centres.

1. Community Health Workers (CHWs)

Role Overview

  • Play a central role in HIV prevention, client support, and community outreach.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Distribute HIV prevention commodities (condoms, lubricants, etc.).
  • Map social networks, venues, and peer leaders for targeted outreach.
  • Provide HIV/SRHR education in one-on-one and group settings.
  • Offer referrals and coordinate access to health and social support services.
  • Maintain accurate client records, case notes, and assessments.
  • Provide risk-reduction counselling and link clients to services.
  • Screen and manage client intake for programme enrolment.
  • Lead condom sensitisation campaigns and related community activities.
  • Plan, implement, and report on weekly and monthly outreach activities.
  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
  • Prepare and submit timely narrative and field reports.
  • Perform other community-related duties as assigned.

Location Requirements

Must reside in Kabwe or Kapiri.

Education and Experience

  • Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Certificate in Psychosocial Counselling.
  • Experience in community-based or field settings.
  • Relevant certifications and documentation will be an added advantage.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proficient in English and at least one local language spoken in Central Province.
  • Strong knowledge of HIV/AIDS and SRHR.
  • High professional conduct and respect for boundaries.
  • Good time management and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, changing environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

2. Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Officer

Reporting to

Chief Operation Director

Primary Function

Under the supervision of the Chief Operations Director, the M&E Officer will be responsible for data entry and all monitoring and evaluation activities in the district. The role will collaborate closely with staff across various departments to provide technical support on M&E-related matters.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure up-to-date data capture within the district.
  • Prepare timely performance reports (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prepare reports on district activities.
  • Facilitate meetings with community stakeholders on M&E-related matters.
  • Provide support to other district staff in the organization.
  • Work with the Implementation Officer to develop high-quality data management plans.
  • Convene performance improvement meetings as needed.
  • Ensure all captured data is valid, reliable, and accurate.
  • Conduct routine data quality assessments and promote data quality improvements.

Knowledge and Experience

  • NGO data entry, cleaning, analysis, and reporting experience.
  • Proficient with DHIS2, SMARTCARE, MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, SPSS or Stata.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with teams.
  • Excellent written, oral, and organisational skills.

Qualifications

  • Full Grade 12 Certificate
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field, with 2–5+ years experience in project monitoring.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (SPSS, STATA, Excel, R).

  • Team-building, communication, presentation, facilitation, mentoring, and coaching skills.
  • Proactive, resourceful, and results-oriented.
